This page is a collection of junior book and event reviews, creative submissions, and outlooks on literary life from Porirua kids, and kids-at-heart.
If you attended an A-Long Hot Summer Story Festival event during December and January, chances are you will have met one of the children's library's favourite customers, Nyah Gavin-Scott. She shared her writing at the Juliet Jacka author workshop, and her illustrations at the Kieran Rynhart illustration workshop, and gave invaluable help with the lyrics at the Kylie Welch songwriting workshop. We took her positive and enthusiastic presence at everything she could make it to - with either her mum or dad in tow - as a good sign we were on the right track, in terms of people pleasing. She made our day when she dropped off the following series of library-loving verses, by way of thanking Porirua Library for her well-deserved A-Long Hot Summer Story Festival prizes. Great work, Nyah. We feel certain your name will be showing up on library shelves (or maybe even the hit parade) one day in the future.
