Welcome to Dying Matters Week Porirua

End-of-Life Doula and Registered Nurse, Melanie Humphries-Connolly is bringing Dying Matters Week 2025 to Porirua and Hutt Valley with events planned from 1 to 7 September at the Whitby and Titahi Bay libraries, Pātaka and other local businesses.

Dying Matters Week is all about supporting people to start conversations, learn from experts, and feel empowered to put end-of-life planning in place to bring peace of mind to themselves and their loved ones.

Events include Wills and Powers of Attorney, an Advance Care Planning Workshop, Storytelling Sessions and more.

Dying Matters events in our libraries:

  • Dad, you've got dementia: Monday 1 September, 1.30-2.30pm at City Centre Library
  • Drop-in session with end of life Doula, Melanie Humphries-Connolly: Tuesday 2 September, 1-2.30pm at Whitby Library
  • Advance care planning workshop: Wednesday 3 September, 2-4pm at Titahi Bay Library
  • Childhood parental bereavement session: Wednesday 3 September, 11am-12pm at City Centre Library
  • Porirua death café: Sunday 7 September, 1.30-3pm at City Centre Library
