Borrowing from SMART libraries

You can borrow from any of the libraries in the SMART Library group. Magazines and puzzles need to be collected from the Library that owns the item.

SMART service

Your SMART library card can help you search, reserve and borrow items from any of the libraries below: (except puzzles and magazines.)

  • Porirua Library
  • Hutt City Library
  • Kapiti Library
  • Masterton Library & South Wairarapa Library
  • Wellington Institute of Technology (WelTec) Library
  • Whitireia Library

Puzzles need to be collected and returned in person to the SMART library that owns the puzzle.

Magazines need to be collected in person from the SMART library that owns the magazine. Magazines can be returned via another SMART library.

Returning items

All items borrowed from a SMART library can be returned to any library branch within in the network (except puzzles).


Puzzles

  • Puzzles need to be collected in person from the SMART library that owns the puzzle
  • Puzzles are issued for 21 days
  • Puzzles can be renewed
  • Puzzles can't be reserved
  • Puzzles need to be returned to the library they are borrowed from.


Magazines

  • Magazines need to be collected in person from the SMART library that owns the magazine
  • Magazines are issued for 14 days
  • Magazines can't be renewed
  • Magazines should preferably be returned to the library they are borrowed from.


Fees

  • There is no charge to use the service
  • All reservations are free
  • Delivery of items to your local library is free
  • Fees are only charged for damaged or lost books. Once an item is long overdue, the computer thinks its is lost. Fees are due for lost items until they are returned.
